DescriptionProviding Incredible, Knowledge Based Customer ServiceProactively approach customers at the counter and on the sales floor; answer questions about products; help locate products; cut, weigh and package items as customers requestWork in the department s back room; weigh, price and wrap products to be sold on the sales floorSeek to learn and share knowledge about products in the department and Wegmans cooking techniquesEnsuring High Quality Products & IngredientsEnsure cases are set up with fresh meat, scales and counters are cleaned, displays are properly signed and well-merchandised following company standardEnsure product levels are sustained and products are rotated showcasing quality and freshness to drive salesAssist in all areas of the department, slicing and cutting a variety of meat products and preparing recipes for Ready-to-cook items as necessaryUnload and break down deliveries; stock freezers with products; refill products to meet customer needs and rotation for freshnessProperly handle products, use equipment, keep accurate logs and follow sanitation practices in accordance with food and human safety guidelines and Simplification 5S proceduresLiving Who We AreSupport, encourage, and respect co-workersWork with supervisor to set and achieve goals for professional development Comply with Wegmans Policies and Work Rules, as well as, federal and state lawsMaintain open lines of communication with supervisors and coworkers to ensure the most efficient operations in the departmentQualifications Seeking Candidates Who Live our values: caring, respect, empowerment, making a difference, high standards Possess teamwork & diversity awareness Seek continuous learning opportunities Provide incredible customer service Ensure food & human safety Possess organizational skills Provide knowledge based service Educate self and others about product knowledge Use and explain Wegmans cooking techniquesPreferred Skills and ExperienceCustomer service experience, preferably in food service, grocery or retail setting Knowledge of meat Experience working in a butcher shop Experience utilizing a variety of cooking techniques
